Lotus flowers in Hanoi
It’s lotus flower season in Hanoi and the West Lake area is awash with the beautiful blooms. Lotus flowers hold particular significance in Vietnam, as they are considered one of four graceful flowers and plants, along with pine, bamboo and chrysanthemum. They are a symbol of purity, commitment, optimism for the future, beauty, majesty, grace, fertility, wealth, richness, knowledge, serenity… anything positive really. A famous Vietnamese song, “Doa hoa vo thuong”, is about the lotus flower — have a listen.

Vietnam spent much on animal feed imports
8/5/2014 (MARD - 25/03/2014) According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2013 Vietnam earned U.S. $ 2.95 billion from rice exports but spent U.S. $ 3 billion on animal feed and raw materials imports. Vietnamese rice exports to the Philippines have surged
8/5/2014 (MARD - 01/08/2014) According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, rice export volume in July this year was estimated at 606,000 tons valuing $ 278 million. Rice exports for the first 7 months of 2014 are estimated at 3.86 million tons worth $ 1.75 billion, down 7.9% in volume and 4.8% in value compared with the same period last year.

Cambodia keen on farming cooperation with Tien Giang
(MARD - 30/07/2013) A senior Cambodian official has voiced his desire to boost agricultural cooperation with the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang, especially in fruit farming. Tien Giang has 70,000 ha grown with various fruit trees which produce nearly 1 million tonnes a year.
